What a great way to spend a day! Wine lover’s tour at Kabola winery is all about passion for wine and Istria. The family tradition that started over a century ago with Momjan Muscat still radiates love for nature and wine growing. And we felt it on our tour.
The amiable sommelier amazed us with a selection of three wonderfully fresh wines accompanied with Istrian delicacies, prosciutto, cheese, and Kabola olive oil. We tasted Kabola RE Brut, Kabola Secco, and Kabola Supremo – all great wines.
We learned about Kabola history, organic production, and amphora maceration.
Utter tranquillity, vineyards, and luscious greenery… These were our first impressions of the Kabola winery. Romantic stone villa with sky blue shutters made us feel like we’re in Tuscany. From inside of the villa, the views of the picturesque Istrian countryside and the Momjan region are spectacular.
Choose a sunny day, take a day off and drive to Stancija hill. For us, the Kabola winery was a pure gem of nature and a wine oasis well worth visiting.
Passionate and innovative – these characteristics best describe the Markežić family and are inwrought in their idyllic Kabola estate near Momjan in Istria.
First things we noticed were vast, green vineyards encircling the property and the peaceful welcoming atmosphere. It felt like a step back in time when hardworking winemakers were one with nature, committed heartfully to their tradition.
As the friendly host explained to us, the crown of their production are wine amphoras in the backyard where a special note of Malvasia and Teran is nurtured and matures. Seeing the process of wine aging in amphoras gives you a feeling of respectfulness. And then we surrendered ourselves to the wine tasting and indulged our senses in a journey through history, nature, and content. It was an experience well worth trying!
Everything here at Kabola is harmonious and flavourful, and we’ll visit them again for sure.
