Upon our arrival to family estate Miro Tartufi, we immediately felt welcomed and noticed the love towards nature and truffles that guide and inspire our lovely hosts Miro and Mirjana Kotiga.
Miro learned about truffle hunting at an early age, continued the family tradition, and expanded it. Now they produce many truffle delicacies such as spreads, cheese, salami, honey, olive oil, and liqueurs with truffles.
Accompanied by Nera and Bela, two lovely, trained search dogs, the owner Miro took us to Motovun forest, the best white truffles habitat spread along thousand hectares of Mirna River valley.
Curious and excited, we followed the dogs whose keen sense of smell did not fail us. Miro dug and showed us the precious earth jewel, hard to find black truffle. Though it was small, it was that much sweeter to taste it. Such a rewarding and worthy experience!
If you are looking for a dream weekend destination, we’ll heartily point you to Motovun. After the adventurous, one-in-a-kind, Istrian truffle hunting experience we just returned from, true gastronomic adventure awaited us on Miro Tartufi estate.
Mrs. Mirjana Kotiga prepared the most delicious, creamy egg frittata with truffles for us. We tasted Istrian aromatic herb brandy, different truffle spreads and cheese, and salami with truffles.
Truffles are such a special delicacy that easily captures your taste buds. Their rich aroma is so tempting and it was wonderful to receive advice from our hosts about proper usage, preparation, and consumption.
What a treat it was!
